Here is my recipe for a super simple chapati made with whole wheat flour and NO oil! Delicious and easy to make, it goes great with curries instead of rice. Also can be transformed into many other dishes, so be creative!
1.5 c whole grain flour
1/2 c water
1 tsp baking soda
Pinch of salt
Creative add in’s: garlic powder or salt and roasted minced garlic and daniya for garlic chapati, caramelized onions for onion chapati, & cinnamon and sugar(no salt) for a sweet chapati
Mix flour, baking soda, salt and spices.
Slowly add water a little at a time only until an elastic dough forms.
Let rest for about 10 minutes.
Divide into about 6 pieces, and roll out, should be rolled thick, unlike a flour tortilla.
Heat a pan on medium till hot and add chapati, cooking until browned on each side.
